Admissions

Enrolling your child at the Academy

Enrollment is handled at the school office in Blakays Town Community, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday. You do not need an appointment.

How to enroll

Three steps, done in person

Step one

Call, or come to the office

Ring 701-809-8225, or come to the campus in Blakays Town Community during office hours. Bring your child with you if you can — placement is easier when we can meet them.

Step two

Placement and registration

We look at any previous report card or transfer certificate and place your child in the grade that genuinely fits. Where there is no paperwork, we assess. Registration details are taken and the parent or guardian contact number is recorded.

Step three

Uniform, books and supplies

Uniforms are purchased on campus. Reading and literature books are bought through the school. The supply list below tells you exactly what to bring on the first day.

What to bring to the office

The child’s previous report card or transfer certificate, if one exists.

The name and phone number of the parent or guardian who will be the school’s point of contact.

That is all that is needed to begin. If your child has never attended school, bring them anyway — they will be placed in the ABC class.

Which session will my child be in?

ABC through Grade 6 attend the morning session, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Grades 7 through 9 attend the afternoon session, 1:15 PM to 5:30 PM.

School supply list

What every pupil brings

Each pupil is expected to arrive with the items below. Several of them — paper, tissue, soap, disinfectant — are pooled for the whole classroom, which is how we keep the campus clean and stocked all year.

One (1) school bag
Sturdy enough to carry books through the rainy season.
Exercise books — one dozen
Additional books as each subject teacher requires.
Pencils — one pack
For ABC through Grade 3; pens from Grade 4 upward.
Pens
Blue or black ink. Grade 4 and above.
Eraser and sharpener — one pack each
Ruler — three (3) pieces
One for the bag, spares for the classroom.
Crayons or colored pencils
K2 through Grade 3 only.
Geometry set
Grades 6 through 9 only.
One (1) ream of copy paper
Shared across the classroom for handouts and tests.
Two (2) rolls of tissue paper
Contributed to classroom and washroom supplies.
One (1) bottle of chlorine
Bleach disinfectant, for classroom hygiene.
Two (2) bars or bottles of hand soap
One (1) container of insecticide
Delta or another approved brand.
Water bottle
Refillable. Please label with your child's name.
Lunch box Optional
Optional, but recommended for the morning session.

Label everything with your child’s name

Water bottles, lunch boxes, rulers and geometry sets go missing fastest. A name in marker pen solves most of it.

Grade-specific items

Crayons or colored pencils: K2 through Grade 3.
Geometry set: Grades 6 through 9.
Pencils: the lower grades. Pens from Grade 4 upward.

Uniforms, books and fees

What is bought where

Uniforms — bought on campus

School uniforms are available for purchase at the school itself. Buying them here keeps every pupil in the same uniform, and saves families hunting through the market for a match.

Books — bought through the school

Reading and literature books are purchased from the school so that every pupil in a class has the same edition. All other supplies on the list are brought from home.

Fees — announced by the office

Tuition, study class fees and WAEC examination fees are set each year and announced by the school office. Please call or visit for the current figures.

Study class and WAEC fees

Study class fees and West African Examinations Council registration fees are separate from tuition and are announced later in the school year. The office will tell you the amounts and the deadline as soon as they are set.

Admissions questions

Before you come in

Do I need an appointment?

No. Come to the office any weekday between 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.

Can I enroll more than one child at once?

Yes. Bring the paperwork you have for each of them. Children in different grades may end up in different sessions — ABC to Grade 6 in the morning, Grades 7 to 9 in the afternoon.

What if we cannot afford everything on the supply list at once?

Speak to the office. The essentials for the first day are the school bag, exercise books and something to write with. Come and talk to us rather than keeping a child at home.

Is there a uniform requirement from the first day?

Uniforms are purchased on campus and we will advise you at enrollment on when your child should be in full uniform.

My child is transferring from another school. What do you need?

The transfer certificate and the most recent report card. These let us place your child in the correct grade rather than starting them over.
