About the Academy

A general education school in the heart of Ganta

Ada and Children Upper Room International Academy exists for one reason: so that the children of Blakays Town Community can get a complete education without leaving their own community.

Our purpose

Education that stays in the community

Families in Blakays Town Community should not have to send a seven-year-old across Ganta City to find a classroom. We are a neighbourhood school offering the full general curriculum — elementary and junior high, under one roof, on one continuous path.

Our pupils study English, mathematics, science and history, alongside reading and literature, physical education and daily devotion. Grade 9 pupils prepare for the West African Examinations Council examinations that open the door to senior secondary school.

We run two sessions a day so that classes stay small. The morning session takes the ABC class through Grade 6. The afternoon session takes Grades 7 through 9. Neither session is a shortened version of the other — both get a full timetable.

What we hold to

Four commitments we can actually be held to

Not slogans — these are the things a parent can walk onto the campus and check.

Small enough to be known

Two sessions instead of one crowded timetable means a teacher can learn every name in the room, and notice when a chair is empty.

The full core curriculum

English, mathematics, science and history for every pupil, every year — not a reduced programme.

A steady start each day

Every session opens with devotion before the first lesson. It settles the room and sets the tone.

A clean, safe campus

Hygiene supplies are pooled across every classroom, and the campus is treated against mosquitoes each term.

Our people

Who looks after your child

The Academy is run by a small team who are on campus every school day.

School Administration

The principal and administrative staff handle enrollment, placement, fees and any concern a parent needs to raise.

Class Teachers

Each class has a teacher responsible for its pupils — their attendance, their progress and their conduct.

Subject Teachers

From the upper elementary grades, specialist teachers take mathematics, science and English through to Grade 9.

Come and meet us
